the distracted planner

About this site

The Distracted Planneris a small, independent site about planning and organization for people whose attention wanders — whether that's because of ADHD, burnout, a chaotic season of life, or a brain that has simply never gotten along with rigid systems.

The promise

Most productivity advice quietly assumes you already have the thing you came looking for: consistency. When the system breaks, you get blamed for it.

The idea here is the opposite, and it's in the name of every method on this site: the planner should forgive you. A system that survives a bad week is worth more than a beautiful one you abandon by Thursday.

Who it's for

  • People who plan in bursts and then vanish for two weeks.
  • Anyone who has bought a gorgeous planner and stopped writing in it by January 9th.
  • People who know exactly what to do and still can't seem to start.

How the advice here is made

Posts are researched from public resources, community discussions, and established organization methods, then written and edited by a human who tests the systems in real life. Drafting tools are used the way most writers use them in 2026 — for research and structure — but nothing gets published without being read, corrected, and rewritten by a person.

What this site is not

This is not a medical site. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a substitute for care from a qualified professional. ADHD is a clinical condition, and only a licensed clinician can assess it. The methods on this site are organization strategies — the kind of thing a friend who is good at systems might show you at a kitchen table.

If something here helps, wonderful. If it doesn't fit your brain, that is information about the method, not about you.
